Online Men's Group Therapy

If you’re tired of performing, over-functioning, shutting down, avoiding conflict, or carrying more than other people realize, this group may be a place to start doing something different.

I offer an online interpersonal process group for men across California, including the Eastern Sierra region. The group is designed for capable, reflective, outwardly functional men who may still feel disconnected, emotionally guarded, isolated, or stuck in familiar patterns with themselves and others.

Many men learn to get through life by staying productive, logical, self-reliant, responsible, or emotionally contained. Those strategies may have helped you survive at one point, but they can also make closeness, honesty, vulnerability, and connection more difficult.

This group is not about fixing you. It is about becoming more aware of how you relate to yourself and other people, and what gets in the way of being more fully known.

For Men Who Are Tired of Carrying Everything Alone

A lot of men enter therapy knowing something feels off, but struggle to explain exactly what it is.

Sometimes it looks like:

  • Staying busy so you never have to slow down
  • Feeling emotionally disconnected in relationships
  • Avoiding conflict until resentment builds
  • Struggling to express needs directly
  • Taking care of everyone else while ignoring yourself
  • Feeling isolated even when surrounded by people
  • Performing competence while privately feeling overwhelmed
  • Pulling away emotionally when things become uncomfortable
  • Having difficulty trusting or letting yourself be seen

Over time, these patterns can begin affecting relationships, intimacy, identity, and a person’s overall sense of meaning.

This group creates space to begin noticing those patterns in real time, alongside other men doing the same work.

What Makes This Different from Traditional Talk Therapy

This is not a class, lecture, or self-help workshop.

The group is a live interpersonal process experience. Rather than only talking about relationships outside the room, we pay attention to what happens between people inside the group itself.

The goal is not simply to “talk about feelings.” The work happens through how you speak, withdraw, avoid, connect, protect yourself, respond to other men, and allow yourself to be seen.

Over time, patterns that exist outside the group often begin to emerge inside the group as well. This creates an opportunity to understand yourself more clearly and experiment with new ways of relating.

For many men, this becomes one of the first places where they experience:

  • Honest feedback without judgment
  • Emotional connection without performance
  • Support without pretending everything is fine
  • A deeper understanding of themselves in relationships

Men often join because they are:

  • Feeling emotionally disconnected from partners, family, or themselves
  • Exhausted from constantly holding everything together
  • Struggling with loneliness, shame, anger, anxiety, or numbness
  • Repeating painful relational patterns
  • Feeling stuck despite insight or self-awareness
  • Finding it difficult to trust, open up, or ask for support
  • Questioning who they are underneath achievement, responsibility, or performance

Many are capable and successful in visible ways, while privately feeling unseen, disconnected, or alone.

Here are some common topics that we cover:

What Brings Men Into the Group

  • Relationship Challenges

Navigating relationships, both romantic and platonic, can be complex, and men often face unique communication and intimacy issues. My sessions offer a space to openly explore communication challenges, intimacy issues, and emotional disconnect, helping you grow stronger connections with others.

  • Stress & Anxiety

Many men experience stress and anxiety due to various factors such as work pressures, relationship challenges, or societal expectations. My support group provides a safe space where you can share experiences and learn from others. Together, we develop effective coping strategies to manage symptoms and build lasting resilience.

  • Fatherhood & Parenting

Whether you're a new dad, a single father, or parenting in a partnership, you’ll find valuable support here. We explore parenting stressors and strategies with others in similar roles. For those parenting neurodivergent children, I also offer autism parent support groups.

  • Marriage/Partner Problems

It's completely normal to encounter periods of tension, miscommunication, or emotional distance. In my men's group therapy, we tackle these dynamics head-on, providing a supportive space where you can talk openly about the challenges you're experiencing.

  • Self-Identity & Masculinity

Exploring and understanding your sense of self and masculinity can be an important part of your mental health journey. My men's group therapy sessions provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your identity, develop a healthier sense of self, and foster personal growth.

  • Life Changes & Transitions

From career shifts and divorce to grief and mid-life crises, I help men process life transitions in empowering ways. You’ll gain tools to manage uncertainty and redefine your goals with intention.

  • Substance Abuse & Addiction

Struggling with substance abuse or addiction can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. My men's group therapy sessions can help. By connecting with others who are facing similar challenges, you can share experiences, gain strength, and develop strategies to build a healthier, more fulfilling life.

  • Sex & Intimacy

Sex and intimacy are important aspects of relationships, but they can also be sources of stress and conflict. My group therapy sessions can help you navigate issues related to sex and intimacy. By discussing these topics openly with others, you can gain new insights and strategies to build a more fulfilling connection with your partner.

Why Group Therapy Can Be So Powerful

There is something different about sitting with other men who are also trying to stop hiding, avoiding, or carrying everything alone.

In group therapy, you do not only gain insight intellectually. You experience yourself relationally.

You begin to notice:

  • How you respond when someone gets close
  • What happens when conflict or vulnerability shows up
  • How you protect yourself emotionally
  • What you expect from other people
  • What feels difficult to express honestly

Over time, many men experience stronger self-awareness, more meaningful relationships, increased emotional flexibility, and a greater sense of connection both inside and outside the group.
